Getaway to Niagara Falls: Where We Stayed, What We Did & Why It’s Worth the Trip
Niagara Falls is one of those destinations that feels almost unreal once you finally see it in person. The sound of the water, the mist in the air, and the sheer size of the falls make it such a memorable trip. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a quick weekend escape, Niagara Falls has the perfect mix of natural beauty, fun attractions, and classic tourist experiences.
Where We Stayed: Hilton Niagara Falls
For our stay, we chose the Hilton Niagara Falls, and it was a great home base for exploring the area. The location made it easy to get around, and we loved being close to the falls, restaurants, and the main attractions.
One of the best parts about staying here is the convenience. You can enjoy the excitement of Niagara Falls without feeling like you’re too far from anything. After a full day of sightseeing, boat rides, walking, and exploring, it was so nice to come back to a comfortable hotel and relax.
This is a great option if you want to be right in the middle of the action while still having a polished and comfortable stay.
Lunch at Skylon Tower
One of the highlights of our trip was having lunch at Skylon Tower. Dining with a view of Niagara Falls made the meal feel extra special.
The views from the tower are absolutely beautiful and give you a completely different perspective of the falls from above. It was the perfect way to slow down, enjoy a meal, and really take in the scenery. I would definitely recommend adding Skylon Tower to your itinerary, especially if you want a dining experience that feels unique to Niagara Falls.
Boat Ride Into the Falls
Of course, no trip to Niagara Falls is complete without doing the iconic boat ride into the falls. This was one of the most exciting parts of the entire trip.
Getting that close to the falls is such a surreal experience. The mist, the power of the water, and the views from the boat make it something you truly have to experience in person. It is touristy in the best way possible and absolutely worth doing.
Be prepared to get wet, but that is part of the fun!
Walking Alongside the Raging Rapids
Another favorite activity was walking alongside the raging rapids. This gave us a chance to experience a different side of Niagara beyond the main falls.
The rushing water is so powerful, and walking along the path lets you take it all in at a slower pace. It was peaceful, beautiful, and honestly a little breathtaking to see just how strong the current is. This is a great activity if you enjoy scenic walks and want to see more of the natural beauty of the area.
Exploring the Strip
We also spent time exploring the strip, which is full of restaurants, shops, attractions, and plenty of fun energy. It has that classic vacation feel with bright lights, entertainment, and lots to do.
It is a great area to walk around, especially in the evening. You can grab a snack, pop into souvenir shops, play tourist for a little while, and just enjoy the lively atmosphere. While exploring, we taste tested maple syrup because when in Canada, you have to try the maple. Of course, we also had to indulge in BeaverTails.
BeaverTails were such a fun treat to enjoy while walking around the strip. Warm, sweet, and perfect for sharing, although you may want one all to yourself. They felt like one of those classic Canadian experiences you have to add to your Niagara Falls itinerary.
Niagara Falls has a great balance of natural wonder and fun attractions, and the strip is where that playful, touristy side really comes out.
Final Thoughts
Niagara Falls is such a memorable destination and truly lives up to the hype. Between staying at the Hilton Niagara Falls, enjoying lunch at Skylon Tower, taking the boat ride into the falls, walking alongside the raging rapids, and exploring the strip, the trip had the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and fun.
This is a destination I would recommend for couples, families, honeymooners, or anyone wanting a trip that feels both exciting and easy to enjoy. Niagara Falls is beautiful, iconic, and full of experiences that make the trip feel special from start to finish.
If you’re dreaming about a Niagara Falls getaway, I’d love to help you plan the perfect trip. From where to stay to what to do, where to eat, and how to make the most of your time there, this is a trip worth adding to your travel list.
